Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has once again addressed those criticizing his decision to share his marital affairs online. Taking to Instagram, the controversial actor didn’t hold back as he slammed critics who feel entitled to advise him on how to manage his private life.
Edochie argued that even those who keep their relationships off social media face marital issues, including separation and divorce. He called out what he sees as the hypocrisy of people who are quick to give advice while failing to resolve problems in their own lives.
Ndi keep your marriage off social media kwenu! Ndi ala,’” Yul began, referring to his detractors. “You wey hide your marriage inside house you no still divorce? Your wife no leave you? Psychøs.” He criticized social media users who, despite their own personal struggles, assume the role of advisers on other people’s lives.
Yul made it clear that posting about his wife is his personal choice, stressing that it doesn’t concern anyone. “If I post my wife one million times on my page how e take concern you? Na you buy me data abi na your wife I post? Idiots,” he wrote. He went on to call out the double standards of those who celebrate people after death but fail to support their happiness when they are alive.
The one wey dey sweet una na to wear black father for person burial. One minute silence. The person go turn to hero. But when that person is alive, being happy, his happiness go dey pain una. Thunder fire you. If my post dey offends you, big transformer,” he added, emphasizing his stance unapologetically.
This is far from the first time Yul Edochie has clapped back at his critics. In April, he addressed people who cast judgment while neglecting their own troubles at home. According to Yul, many social media advisers live in turmoil but pretend to be saints online to gain followers and validation.
Edochie has also been unapologetically vocal about his beliefs. Last year, he issued a public service announcement vowing to keep being loud about his life, referring to his unshakeable faith. He asserted,
I cannot keep calm. My God, the one who parted the Red Sea, is with me full time.”
The actor’s remarks have, as expected, sparked debates among fans, with some praising his boldness and others criticizing his attitude. Regardless of public opinion, Yul Edochie seems determined to live life on his own terms.
