Inter vice-president, Javier Zanetti has named Lionel Messi as the player that deserves to win the Ballon d’Or this year. After realizing his dream of winning the FIFA World Cup, according to Zanetti, Messi should receive the 2023 Ballon d’Or award. When asked to pick his Ballon d’Or winner for this year in an interview with PlanetWin365, the legendary Inter Milan player responded as follows.
“I think [Lionel] Messi deserves it because he managed to fulfil his dream of winning the World Cup as an absolute protagonist,” Zanetti said.
He added,
“In my opinion, he has been the best for several years.”
Messi recently led Argentina to win the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar last December. The former Barcelona captain recently announced his decision to leave Paris Saint-Germain for MLS side Inter Miami. The 36-year-old has won the Ballon d’Or seven times in the past.
Javier Zanetti also named his best three coaches for last season. Zanetti chose Pep Guardiola, who led Manchester City to the European treble, as the best manager of the 2022–23 season.
As his top three coaches, he also included Luciano Spalletti and Carlo Ancelotti, who led Napoli to the Serie A title.
“Pep Guardiola managed to win the Treble despite a Champions League Final in which Simone Inzaghi was very good at a tactical level,” Zanetti said.
“Then Carlo Ancelotti, always very wise and quiet, and Luciano Spalletti for what he did with Napoli.”
