14 of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority’s (LASTMA) officers have been found guilty of corruption and misbehaviour in the last four months.
This was revealed by LASTMA’s general manager, Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, during a Tuesday interview in Lagos with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
According to Bakare-Oki, since taking office on Nov. 20, 2023, the authority’s personnel management board has heard complaints against the conduct of eighteen officials, of which fourteen were found guilty.
Bakare-Oki claims that the incompetent cops have received consequences.
According to him, the penalties varied from warning letters and voluntary retirement to dismissal and rank reduction.
“There are stipulated rules, and we have our code of conduct.
“The modus operandi is that any of our men found wanting either in terms of extortion or any other form of illicit act will be given a query.
“After the query, the officer or personnel will be slated for personnel management board’s discipline,” he stated.
