21,783 personnel, 769 vehicles, 139 ambulances and 33 heavy, medium and light-duty tow trucks of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) are to be deployed. This is to ensure orderliness and timely delivery of election materials. This is part of its commitment towards ensuring a hitch-free election.

The corps spokesperson, Bisi Kazeem on Friday, said the deployment was for the presidential elections scheduled for February 25. The corps noted that it would work alongside other security agencies to ensure orderliness and timely delivery of election materials.

In his pre-election directives, the Corps Marshal, Dauda Biu, told officers to screen and accredit vehicles hired by the Independent National Electoral Commission to convey election materials.

He also directed commanding officers to ensure that patrol and other operational vehicles were promptly deployed. As well as monitored throughout the duration of the exercise.

The statement read, “The Federal Road Safety Corps is deploying a total of 21,783 personnel, 769 vehicles, 139 ambulances and 33 heavy, medium and light duty tow trucks as part of its commitment towards ensuring that the 2023 presidential and National Assembly elections are conducted in a smooth, hitch-free and very successful manner.

“Being a member of the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security, the Corps will work alongside other security agencies to ensure orderliness and timely delivery of election materials.”
