Air Vice Marshal Hasan Abubakar, the Chief of Air Staff, has revealed that the Nigerian Air Force is anticipating the arrival of 51 new platforms to assist counter-insurgency operations.
According to Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, NAF spokesperson, Abubakar mentioned this while addressing officers and soldiers during his maiden operational visit of NAF units in Makurdi, Benue State.
Two Agusta 109 Trekker Multi-role helicopters, two Beechcraft King Air 360s, three Diamond DA-62 surveillance aircraft, and six T-129 ATAK helicopters are among the aircraft planned.
The statement went on to say,
He reaffirmed his commitment to improving maintenance and logistical support for all NAF fleets in order to exceed the present average serviceability of more than 78 per cent.
He also stated that the acquisition of more platforms will help with the training of the officers and men.
