Zamfara State Police arrested a total of 57 suspects who were directly or indirectly involved in the post-election riots following the results of the gubernatorial election. Police also recovered some of the property looted and destroyed in connection with the post-election riots.
Police detectives led by the Commissioner of Police, Kolo Yusuf earlier arrested forty suspects. Furthermore, they also recovered some of the looted and vandalised property worth millions of Naira, the command noted.
Suspects were shown to the media and later remanded in prison.
“As a follow up to the ongoing effort, one suspect, one Yusuf Magaji, aka Mai Anguwa 60 years old and sixteen others were also arrested, recovering exhibits from them.
This was disclosed during a press briefing in Gusau, the Zamfara state capital by the Police Commissioner, Kolo Yusuf.
According to him, two semi-silence generators belonging to the State Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, two standing refrigerators, vandalised doors, windows, tables, chairs, electric wires and different calibres of electronics were also recovered.
Others include sets of cushion chairs, forty pieces of wrappers, burglar-proof for Windows, and pillar reinforcement rods amongst others.
