Five killed in Bayelsa Road Accident – Police

The Bayelsa State Police Command confirmed that five people have been killed in a car accident. The road accident happened along the Tombia-Amassoma road in the state’s capital, Yenagoa. On Friday afternoon near the LNG axle on a normally busy road, a Sport Utility Vehicle coming from Yenagoa collided head-on with a passenger car returning from the university town of Amassoma.

Asinim Butswat, the spokesperson for Command, confirmed the incident, saying five people were killed in the traffic accident.

He said-

“On 28 April, 2023 at about 1500 hours a black Toyota SUV with Reg number RGM-38-HM had a head-on collision with a Mazda 323F car with Reg No.NEM-456-PG, along the Amassoma Road, Yenagoa Local Government Area.

“Four passengers and the driver of the Mazda car died on the spot.

“A female passenger was rescued and hospitalized at the Niger Delta University Teaching Hospital, Okolobiri.

“Corpses of the victims were deposited at the same hospital for autopsy.

“Investigation is ongoing to arrest the driver of the SUV car and to ascertain the cause of the fatal car crash”.
