US Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken reaffirmed to Nigeria’s president-elect Bola Tinubu of US commitment to further strengthening US-Nigeria relations. Blinken said this in a statement released by US State Department spokesperson, Matthew Miller, stating that the Secretary of State called the president-elect on Tuesday to discuss issues of interest.
He noted that the partnership between the United States and Nigeria is built on common interests and strong people-to-people ties. Furthermore, he stated that these ties should be further strengthened during President-elect Tinubu’s term.
He also discussed with the President-elect the importance of inclusive leadership on behalf of all Nigerians. As well as continued comprehensive security cooperation and reforms to support economic growth.
President-elect Bola Tinubu will take office on May 29, 2023.
