Andy Cole, a former striker for Manchester United, asserted that the club’s acquisition of Napoli’s Victor Osimhen would not be enough to help them win the Premier League title.
Before the new season, Erik ten Hag is aiming to bolster his attack, and connected to the Red Devils is Osimhen, who scored 25 goals in 31 Serie A games.
Cole, on the other hand, predicted that Manchester City would once again be the favourites and believes that United’s acquisition of the Super Eagles striker will not be sufficient to help them conquer England.
In his words,
“No, Manchester United can’t win the league next season. It frustrates me when people think that by buying two more players, we can then win the league. So why is Manchester City in such a good position if all it takes is buying two players? Make it make sense. Two players, including Victor Osimhen, can’t help Manchester United compete for the league title.”
Cole said this while speaking on behalf of BoyleSports about FA Cup odds.
“Unless Manchester City doesn’t buy anyone this summer and say ‘we’ll let everyone catch us up.’ Football doesn’t work like that, so I’m honest when people ask if Manchester United can compete for the league title next season, I say no.”
