Manchester United Have Talks with De Gea Over New Contract

Sky Sports reports that Manchester United are in talks with David de Gea regarding a new contract. The club has also officially released Phil Jones and Axel Tuanzebe.

De Gea’s deal expires at the end of the month but United want to keep him at Old Trafford.

With high profile errors against Sevilla in the Europa League, Southampton in the Premier League and Manchester City in the FA Cup, many fans believe Manchester United should look elsewhere for a shot stopper.

Ten Hag has suggested strongly that his side need to be able to play out better from the back and De Gae is not a guaranteed starter next season if he chooses to stay.

Fellow goalkeepers Tom Heaton and Nathan Bishop have had extensions triggered on their deals, as have defenders Rhys Bennett and Ethan Laird

After discussing a new contract, U21s player-coach Tom Huddlestone is likely to stay, and the club has offered a deal to forward Mateo Mejia.

Manchester United is releasing Ethan Galbraith, Di’Shon Bernard, Eric Hanbury, Charlie Wellens, and Manni Norkett.
