According to the tweet,
“The European Union Election Observation Mission, today, presented its final report on the 2023 general elections to the commission.
“INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, and National Commissioners were on hand to receive the visitors.”
The EU had stated in its assessment from February 27, 2023, that the 2023 general elections were not conducted transparently, which damaged public confidence in INEC.
Additionally, it was noticed that, even before February 25, there was a decline in public trust in INEC’s impartiality, competence, and voter education initiatives.
Although the EU agreed that the election went as planned, it said that operational blunders, which put the right to vote at risk, were a factor in the decreased confidence in the system.
