Residents of the NASFAT community, Felele phase II, a suburb in Lokoja, the Kogi State Capital, have been lamenting about the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company’s (AEDC) lack of power supply for several months. In a Save Our Soul letter sent on Monday to the AEDC headquarters in Lokoja, the Community Chairman, Hon. Sani Ibrahim, and the Chairman of the Committee on Electricity, Raji Omuya, made this disclosure.

The organization bemoaned that the development had just made things worse for locals and prevented any real economic growth.

They said that hoodlums are now using the power outage to further all kinds of illegal activity.

The community requested a new transformer from AEDC and Governor Yahaya Bello.

The letter reads in part:

“We are calling on AEDC and Governor Yahaya Bello to quickly come to our aid. Our community has been suffering from total blackout for several months. Economic activities have been crippled, hoodlums are taking advantage of this situation.

“All we are asking for is a new transformer to fix our electricity problem. We have made contributions within ourselves to restore power back to our community but it is far above us, that is why we are making this passionate appeal for AEDC and Governor Bello to come and save us from these long months of darkness and hardship.”
