The Kano State Government has dropped its lawsuit against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to prevent it from continuing to invite, look into, or question Abdullahi Ganduje, the previous governor of Kano State.
In a letter dated July 4th, 2023, and written to Sanusi Musa, the Kano Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Haruna Isa Dederi, included the notice of withdrawal of the lawsuit filed before the Federal High Court.
It said, “We write to notify you that the Kano State Government and the Attorney General of Kano State wish to debrief you of the earlier instructions, given to you to handle the case NO: FHC/ KN/71/2023 between Attorney General of Kano State and Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
“You and your team members are therefore instructed not to take any further steps on the matter, either by appearing in court or filing any processes in respect of the case”, Kano’s attorney general stated.
Recall that the previous governor, Ganduje, used the Ministry of Justice to produce a fiat instrument to prevent the EFCC from looking into the contentious dollar video.
