SERAP has urged Senate President Godswill Akpabio and House Speaker Tajudeen Abbass to cancel the planned N110 billion spending on bulletproof automobiles and palliative care for members. Kolawole Oluwadare, the group’s deputy director, made the announcement on Sunday.
SERAP wants President Tibubu to create a new bill without the N110 billion for cars and legislative support. They suggest using that money to help children who aren’t in school.
The purported act was labelled a violation of public trust by SERAP.
“Repeal the 2022 Supplementary Appropriation Act to reduce the budget for the National Assembly by N110bn, reflect the current economic realities in the country and address the impact of the removal of fuel subsidy on the over 137 million poor Nigerians.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu should present a fresh supplementary appropriation bill, to redirect the N110 billion to address the situation of the over 20 million out-of-school children in Nigeria, for the approval of the National Assembly”, SERAP stated
