Thousands of Christians and Muslims gathered in Maiduguri on Friday to pray for harmony and consistent rain in Borno.

According to The News Agency of Nigeria, Christians of all faiths congregated at First Baptist Church in Maiduguri for prayers on Friday as Muslims observed prayers in their respective mosques.

On Thursday, the Shehu of Borno, Abubakar Garbai El-Kanemi, and representatives of the Christian Association of Nigeria asked the faithful to pray for divine intervention about the lack of rains.

The state chairman of CAN, Most Rev John Bakeni, exhorted believers to seek God’s face and abide by His ways in their dealings for good tidings at the prayer session for Christians at the Baptist Church.

Rev. Emmanuel Morris, Bishop of the Maiduguri Anglican Diocese, prayed to God for peace in the state and abundant rain to produce a bountiful crop.

Also, the Shehu of Borno, Abubakar Garbai El-Kanemi ordered all district and village leaders in the state to rally their people to help the less fortunate, orphans, and those with disabilities as part of the prayers.

He urged all parents to persuade their children to stop engaging in improper conduct, immoral behaviour, social vices, and drug usage. He exhorted businesspeople to perform their authorised operations in fear of Allah.
