A total of 37 directors were screened out by the federal government for failing the promotional examination as principals in Unity schools.

This comes as 14 new principals were announced.

The 14 newly appointed principals emerged through a “rigorous oral interview” stage, according to a document signed by the Director of Human Resources, Federal Ministry of Education, David Gende, and made accessible to our reporter in Abuja on Friday.

The computer-based test was given to 65 directors in July, and 14 of them failed and were filtered out.

A follow-up oral interview test for 51 directors who passed the CBT has been planned for Friday, July 28, 2023, at the Ministry of Education in Abuja.

According to the document that was made public after the oral interview’s results, 37 directors were eliminated, leaving a total of 14 directors who have now been named principals.

“Consequent upon completion of the selection process of new principals for the Federal Unity Colleges to fill some consequential vacancies occasioned by the tenure policy introduced in 2022, I am directed to notify you of the appointment of the underlisted officers as principals following their success in the computer-based test and oral interview.

“The principals are to undergo induction/orientation preparatory to deployment on a date to be communicated.”

In a previous memo, the ministry detailed the procedure it was using to choose new principals for federal unification schools to take the place of those who had been in that position for at least six years.
