The Independent National Electoral Commission will use 11,355 Bimodal Voter Accreditation System machines to verify voters in the Kogi, Bayelsa, and Imo states’ governorship elections on November 11.

This was revealed on Sunday by a senior officer in the commission who requested anonymity.

In accordance with INEC, Bayelsa State has 2,244 voting places, Kogi has 3,508, and Imo has 4,758.

Recall that BVAS’s failure ruined the presidential and National Assembly elections that were held on February 25, 2023.

When the 2023 polls were reviewed, the commission stated that the deployed BVAS had a 98% success rate.

The INEC official promised that the commission will perform better in the next off-season gubernatorial elections.

He said:

“2,400 BVAS would be deployed to Bayelsa State while 5,079 and 3,876 BVAS would be used in Imo and Kogi, respectively.

“The BVAS never malfunctioned. However, we hoped to do more than what we did on March 18, 2023.”
