The Oyo State Government has stated that it is still dedicated to winning the battle against insecurity in the state’s Oke-Ogun region.
According to a statement released on Monday and signed by the Commissioner for Information, Prince Dotun Oyelade, the Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Bayo Lawal, made this revelation on Thursday during a stakeholder meeting for all the local governments in Oke-Ogun Zone II held at Kisi in preparation for the 2024 fiscal year.
The Deputy Governor also stated that the current administration would do all it took to guarantee public safety throughout the state.
He said the government is ready to work with all security agencies to protect the state, praising their efforts to maintain peace and stability in the region.
Lawal also tasked zone leaders with collaborating and developing a framework to promptly resolve security concerns in the area.
He emphasised that all the local governments in Oke-Ogun Zone II, which includes Olorunsogo, Oorelope, Irepo, Saki West, Saki East, and Atisbo Local Governments, must work together to develop a security template that will address the zone’s security concerns holistically and thoroughly.
The deputy governor stated that the budgetary system is essential to democracy when discussing the creation of the budget.
“Therefore, the people need to be consulted first before any budget preparation. This is the only expression of true democracy,” he stated.
According to Prof. Adetunji Babatunde, the commissioner for budget, a good budget must be an engagement budget; this is why the engagement meeting was held.
Other state elected officials attended the meeting, which was presided over by the deputy governor.
