Security operatives in Ogun State on Wednesday, tracked six suspected cultists who were allegedly involved in the violence that erupted in Sagamu over the weekend to the official residence of a member of the State House of Assembly.
Hon. Damilare Bello Mohammed of Sagamu State Constituency 1 was accused of sheltering fleeing cultists.
Following a tip, a team of security operatives conducted a sting operation and arrested the suspects on the lawmaker’s property.
Those arrested include Damilare Bello Mohammed aka DRE, Debbo Animashaun, Bamidele Saheed, Ismaila Onitire, Adewale Otesanya, and Tobi Owoade, the sources said.
They are currently being interrogated by the Department of State Service (DSS).
According to sources, the suspects had many dangerous weapons, including guns.
Early this year, Hon. Bello was detained by the DSS for organising the violent demonstration that occurred in Sagamu in February of this year in opposition to the Central Bank of Nigeria’s (CBN) naira redesign programme.
During the protest, angry youths damaged roughly ten banks and other public facilities.
