Bandits raided a mosque in Sabon Layi, Kakangi Ward, Birnin-Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State yesterday, murdering the Imam and another worshipper.
Many more worshippers were reportedly injured at the Sabon Layi community’s Ga Allah Babba region.
At the time of writing, the Kaduna Police Command has not responded to the event.
According to a source, when the hoodlums opened fire on the worshippers, the mosque’s Imam, Malam Mamuda, and one Kabiru were slain, while Bilya Mairabo and Ashiru Mairabo were injured.
Ibrahim Abubakar Maigwari, Chairman of the Birnin-Gwari Vanguard for Security and Good Governance, noted in the statement that “almost on a daily basis, terrorists are on patrol across the entire Birnin-Gwari local government area, killing and abducting innocent citizens.
“The situation is more worrisome on Birnin-Gwari-Kaduna highway and has become a nightmare for travellers,” he said.
