The government of Benue State has reiterated its dedication to modernising the transport and power industries in order to meet the pressing needs of the populace.
The Commissioner for Power and Transportation, Barr Omale Omale, announced this to reporters on Monday in Makurdi.
Governor Hyacinth Alia is committed to fostering these industries’ expansion, the commissioner stated, acknowledging their importance in reviving the state’s economy.
He says that because the industry is so important, the Ministry of Power and Transport—established under Governor Alia’s administration—is crucial.
According to Omale, measures have been taken to ensure that the state-owned Benue Links Transport Company continues to serve the general public with seamless service and maintains its status as the state’s leading transport provider.
He said that the company has received 80% of the new buses it purchased, and safety inspections are being carried out to guarantee the security of the passengers.
In order to lessen the impact of the removal of fuel subsidies on the people of the state, the commissioner gave the people of Benue assurances that Benue Links buses would serve all 23 of the local government areas in the state. The plan is to maintain a continuous cycle of buses entering and exiting local government areas.
“We intend to make it in such a way that when one vehicle is leaving a local government area, another will be entering,” he added.
