Former Liverpool and Manchester City forward Mario Balotelli survived a car crash in Italy, leaving his £100,000 Audi R8 in ruins. The incident occurred just before 7:30 pm local time near his hometown of Brescia in Orzinuovi.
According to Sky Italia, Balotelli lost control of his vehicle, colliding with a wall. Despite the severity of the crash and the car being described as “destroyed,” the 33-year-old managed to free himself before paramedics arrived. Miraculously, he escaped major injuries, and images of the wreckage circulated on social media.
Balotelli, who currently plays for Adana Demirspor in Turkey, defied police efforts by refusing a breathalyzer test. Reports suggest he was granted permission by his team to recover from an injury in Italy.
Coincidentally, this incident unfolded in the same week Balotelli expressed his desire to rejoin the Italy squad, having last played for them five years ago. His wish comes after Italy secured a spot in Euro 2024.
As of now, Balotelli or his representatives have not commented on the incident. Medics on the scene cleared him, allowing his brother to take him home. The football community awaits updates on the player’s well-being and any potential implications for his career.
