The Jigawa government has approved the hiring of 1,124 health professionals who were previously employed as casual employees under the J-Health scheme.
This was said on Friday in Dutse by Mr Sagir Musa, the Commissioner for Information, Youth, Sports, and Culture.
He stated that the exercise was approved by the State Executive Council (SEC) at its meeting on Thursday.
According to Musa, the permission is consistent with the administration of Gov. Umar Namadi’s goal to expanding access to affordable healthcare services throughout the state.
Musa said the council authorized N959.2 million in salary and allowance payments for the 1,124 health personnel.
He said the 924 J-Health employees, include 200 medical personnel, 40 medical physicians, 30 chemists, and 20 nurses.
Other beneficiaries include 20 biological lab scientists, 15 community health workers, 10 dental therapists, 10 physiotherapists, five medical imaging, and 40 trained nurses and midwives.
In addition, 10 scientific laboratory technicians and other related fields will be sent to the 281 primary healthcare institutions.
He said:
“The confirmation of the 924 J-Health adhoc staff is, however, subject to examination to be conducted by the state Ministry of Health.”
Also, the council approved the recruitment of 1,000 indigenous people who have completed health-related courses into the J-Health initiative to replace those who have found permanent jobs.
