The Board of Immigration, Civil Defence, Fire, and Correctional agencies has approved the promotion of 32,361 personnel from the four agencies.

Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, Minister of Interior, confirmed the promotions on Friday in Abuja through the NSCDC Commandant General, Dr Ahmed Audi.

Out of the 7,000 wardens that took the promotion exam, 4,498 were Nigerian Correctional Service staff.

In addition, 4, 598 immigration officers out of 6,544 were promoted, and 1,680 out of 1,698 fire service workers who took the promotion exams were promoted.

However, the bulk of those promoted were from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), which saw 21,385 of its 25,951 candidates pass the promotion tests.

According to the minister, this was the first time in the board’s history that such a large number of officials were promoted.

Tunji-Ojo challenged the recipients to dedicate themselves to the service of the nation.

He said:

“You should see this promotion as a new frontier in the way and manner you carry out your responsibilities; promotions come with enormous responsibilities and to whom much is given, much is expected.”
