Sokoto State Governor, Ahmed Aliyu approved the awarding of ten projects totalling more than N18 billion on Wednesday.
This was one of the resolutions approved during the state executive meeting, which was chaired by the governor and took place in the Council Chamber of Government House in Sokoto.
After the meeting, Bello Danchadi, the state’s commissioner of information, briefed reporters on the projects. She said they were a part of the administration’s plan to create a new state, which is run by the All Progressives Congress.
Among the initiatives, according to Danchadi, are rural electricity and road development.
Nasir Danstoho, the Commissioner for Works, also spoke at the executive session and said that the N2.189 billion contract for the Runjin Sambo inner road had been authorised.
He said:
“We also approved the award of contract for the rehabilitation of the Bodinga line along Maiduguri road for N816,289,000
“Reconstruction of Forces Avenue and Lodge Road for N488,890,000 as well as reconstruction of old market and roundabout along Ali Akilu road for N998,518,000 and that of Gidan maadan roundabout for 94,731,918,35.”
