Following the suspension of certification and review of degree credentials in Benin Republic and Togo, the Federal Government said that further nations, including Uganda, Kenya, and Niger Republic, would be sanctioned.
Tahir Mamman, the minister of education, said this on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Wednesday.
“We are not going to stop at just Benin and Togo,” “We are going to extend the dragnet to countries like Uganda, Kenya, even Niger here where such institutions have been set up.
“We will not stop at the suspension of certificates from Togo and Benin Republic alone. We are going to extend the suspension to other countries where such institutions operate,” Mamman stated.
The Federal Government promptly halted the certification of credentials from the two francophone West African nations and initiated an investigation, which the minister stated would conclude in three months.
Students who attend such institutes, according to Mamman, are not victims but criminals.
“I have no sympathy for such people. Instead, they are part of the criminal chain that should be arrested,” the minister emphasised.
He also said that security agents will go after people who have fraudulent certifications from other countries and are using them to obtain jobs in Nigeria.
