The Joint Admission and Matriculations Board has announced that people with disabilities can register for the 2024/2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination for free.
The JAMB Registrar, Ishaq Oloyede, said this while launching the registration process for interested candidates throughout the country.
While announcing that registration for the 2024 matriculation test would begin on Monday (today), Oloyede stated that JAMB will provide free application materials to all categories of Persons Living With Disability as a form of support.
According to him:
“To support the PLWD, JAMB will issue free application documents to all categories of Persons Living with Disabilities in the advertisement for the 2024 UTME/DE.”
Oloyede, who divulged that measures have been put in place to ensure a smooth process for all applicants, stated that audio books will henceforth be supplied to all blind candidates.
The registrar revealed that the invention was a digital adaption of the conventional reading book, and that it will be available in common audio formats such as MP3, WMV, and WMA, making it compatible with all devices capable of streaming audio records.
He stated that the idea to provide audiobooks was presented during Nigeria’s inaugural National Conference on Equal Opportunity in Higher Education.
According to the examination authority, those with Down syndrome, Autism, Dyslexia condition, and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity condition would also benefit from free registration in addition to blind applicants.
“The following categories of candidates will now be listed under the disability group: Down syndrome, Autism, Dyslexia disorder and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity disorder (ADHD),” he added.
