Sheriff Oborevwori’s election as governor of Delta State has been upheld by the Supreme Court.
The All Progressives Congress and Ovie Omo-Agege, as well as the Labour Party and Ken Pella, as their candidates, filed appeals against the governor, but the court denied them.
The five-member panel, chaired by Justice John Okoro, found that the Omo-Agege appeal lacked merit and that the appellant had failed to meet his burden of evidence.
Pella’s appeal was similarly denied due to its lack of substance.
The challenges filed by the parties and candidates for governor of Delta State were dismissed by the Lagos court of appeals, which upheld Oborevwori’s election.
With 360,234 votes, Oborevwori defeated Omo-Agege of the APC, who was his closest rival with 240,229.
Pela of the LP finished third with 48,027 votes, while Great Ogboru of the All Progressives Grand Alliance came fourth with 11,021 votes.
