The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, or NDLEA, seized 7,345.209 kg of illegal narcotics and other substances valued at N125.71 million in the Federal Capital Territory in 2023.
Mr. Kabir Tsakuwa, the NDLEA Commander for the region, stated this in an interview on Sunday in Abuja.
Tsakuwa listed the numerous narcotics that were intercepted, including ecstasy, heroin, pentazocine, cocaine, methamphetamine, methamphetamine, diazepam, and Rohypnol.
The commander provided a breakdown of the seizures, stating that throughout the review period, agency agents seized 7,138.72 kg of marijuana in total.
He stated that 0.5 kg of cocaine, 29.629 kg of diazepam, 4.587 kg of methamphetamine, 5.934 kg of alcohol, and 133.753 kg of tramadol were among the other narcotics found in 2023.
The remaining illegal substances that were seized, according to Tsakuwa, were pentazocine (21.727 kg), heroin (0.002 kg), megadon (0.263 kg), and ecstasy (0.134 kg).
“All the illicit drugs and substances intercepted were with the street value of N125,714,620,” he said.
