Job Description
As an Accountant, you will be working closely with the head of accounts to assist in overseeing the financial operations and accounting functions of the organization. You will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy of financial records, maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements, and providing strategic financial guidance to support business objectives.
Responsibilities
Financial Reporting and Analysis:
· Prepare and analyse financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
· Monitor financial performance and provide insights into variances, trends, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
· Conduct periodic financial reviews and audits to ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
· Collaborate with department heads to develop annual budgets and forecasts based on business goals and objectives.
· Monitor budget performance and provide regular updates to management on budget vs. actuals.
· Identify opportunities for cost savings or revenue enhancement to improve financial performance.
Accounts Payable and Receivable Management:
· Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes, including invoice processing, payment processing, and collections.
· Maintain vendor and customer accounts, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of transactions.
· Monitor aging reports and follow up on overdue payments to minimize delinquencies.
Cash Flow Management:
· Manage cash flow projections and liquidity needs to support ongoing business operations.
· Optimize cash management strategies to maximize interest income.
· Monitor and reconcile bank accounts and other cash-related accounts.
Tax Compliance and Planning:
· Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal tax regulations, including preparation and filing of tax returns.
· Coordinate with external tax advisors to optimize tax planning strategies and minimize tax liabilities.
· Stay updated on changes in tax laws and regulations that may impact the organization.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field;
- ACA Certified.
- Proven experience in accounting or finance roles, with at least 5 years of experience in a similar capacity.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and tax regulations.
- Proficiency in accounting software and financial management systems particularly SAGE 300.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable insights.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- High level of integrity and professionalism, with a commitment to maintaining confidentiality and ethical standards in financial management.
