The Nigerian Army has again neutralised around eleven armed bandits along the Anka-Bagega route in Zamfara State.
According to reports, the infamous bandits stopped the route to prevent traffic from moving through and to capture those who were travelling on it.
It was also revealed that after getting a distress call, Army personnel rushed to the area and engaged the terrorists in a gunfight, causing the criminals to retreat into the forest.
According to Army officials, the move was part of their ongoing attempts to evict bandits in that area.
Recently, Army soldiers launched two separate operations in Zamfara and Katsina states, clearing highways barricaded by terrorists seeking to abduct innocent people.
The terrorists were apprehended with one AK-47 rifle, two AK 47 magazines, five rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition and a motorbike.
The army also stated that in a separate operation in Katsina State, its soldiers cleared multiple rebel camps within Yar’Malamai and Hamfudin general regions in Faskari Local Government Area.
One bandit was killed in the aftermath of a firefight.
The military also found one locally made rifle, two motorcycles, and six mobile phones, among other things.
