Dino Melaye, a former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Kogi State, had a heated argument with Samuel Ortom, the former governor of Benue State.
Melaye accused Ortom of anti-party operations in the 2023 presidential election.
Speaking during a PDP North Central zonal leadership meeting in Abuja on Wednesday, Melaye stated that Ortom’s anti-party activities contributed to the PDP’s defeat in both the presidential and gubernatorial elections in Benue.
He was surprised that the former governor could attend a PDP gathering, given his prior betrayal to the party.
This resulted in a heated discussion between the two PDP chiefs.
During the 2023 election, Ortom joined forces with the G-5 governors, led by Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, to oppose the PDP’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
While other members of the group pushed for President Bola Tinubu’s win, Ortom supported the Labour Party’s (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
