Manchester United teenagers Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo made history by scoring in the FA Cup final against Manchester City on Saturday. Their goals helped United secure a 2-0 lead in the first half.
Garnacho opened the scoring at the half-hour mark, and Mainoo doubled the lead in the 39th minute. This achievement marks the first time two teenagers have scored in an FA Cup final. Additionally, they are the first teenagers to score in an FA Cup final since Cristiano Ronaldo’s goal against Millwall in 2004.
Mainoo has been in excellent form this season, making 35 appearances, scoring five goals, and providing three assists. His performance earned him a spot in Gareth Southgate’s preliminary England squad for Euro 2024.

Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo’s first-half goals propelled United to an unexpected 2-0 lead, which they fiercely defended under Erik ten Hag’s guidance. Despite Jeremy Doku sneaking a goal past Andre Onana late on, United managed to maintain their advantage, thwarting any potential comeback from City.

City, aiming for a double after clinching their fourth consecutive Premier League title, fell short at Wembley, unable to replicate their previous victory over United in the same fixture last year.

This triumph marks a significant achievement for Ten Hag, who has faced immense scrutiny since United’s eighth-place finish in the league. However, despite the win, reports suggest he will soon be replaced as manager.
