On Monday, former President Olusegun Obasanjo met with Oluremi Tinubu, the First Lady.

Busola Kukoyi, the First Lady’s media aide confirmed Obasanjo’s meeting with Mrs Tinubu via X.

Kukoyi shared images of the two individuals, writing:

“Former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Chief Olusegun Obasanjo and the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Senator Oluremi Tinubu after receiving the Former President who came felicitating on the Sallah Celebration on Monday 17th June.”

This comes just 48 hours after Obasanjo was spotted wearing a headgear featuring President Bola Tinubu’s symbol.

Recall that a video of Obasanjo wearing a headgear tagged with Tinubu’s emblem at a gathering attended by several African leaders went viral online.

Despite originating from the same Southwest geographical zone, Obasanjo and Tinubu have distinct political loyalties.

During the 2023 presidential election, the former President backed Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi.

Tinubu had visited Obasanjo’s home in Abeokuta, Ogun State, before the election to solicit his endorsement, but the former President chose Obi.

The former President has questioned the Tinubu administration’s handling of pending reforms as well as the coup in Niger Republic.
