The Nigeria Customs Service, Kwara State Command, produced and remitted about N10 billion between January and May 2024.

Faith Ojeifo, the Customs Area Comptroller, announced this at a news conference held on Thursday at the command’s headquarters in Ilorin.

According to him, a comparison with the previous year 2023 shows that the command collected more than N2.885 billion, representing 40.41 percent.

Faith additionally reported that throughout the time under examination, 21 seizures of various banned products were documented.

They comprise 507 bags of foreign rice, one used car, 1,055 used tyres, and 164 jerry cans of petrol, for a total duty paid value of N35,416,140.

The command also contributed relief goods to the Kwara State Ministry of Social Development for the purpose of providing relief, comfort, and assistance to persons afflicted by specific crises or issues.

“We are aware that the ministry is not a revenue-generating one, and only benefits from monthly allocations from the state government and that is why we are recognizing the tireless efforts of the ministry in serving the less privileged, vulnerable and the disabled in the society,” he added.
