Otti angry over killing of 2 police officers in Abia, vows to change security strategy

Following the assassination of two police officers in Aba on Friday by unknown hoodlums, Abia State Governor Alex Otti sent condolences to their families.

The hoodlums attacked four police officers on Opobo Road in Aba, killing two and injuring two others.

Otti called the attack sad in an interview with the media following his visit to the victims’ relatives and the hospitals where the two wounded police officers are being treated.

He swore that his administration would apprehend the offenders and expressed sadness that the attack occurred just weeks after a similar occurrence involving soldiers.

The governor told Abia State inhabitants that the security policy would change.

Otti said:

“We thought that with all what we have done, including rounding up some of the people that were involved in that last attack, that this would not happen again.

“We have decided to change strategy. We do not want to speculate but like you (journalist) rightly asked, it is reasonable to suspect that the enemies of the state, particularly those who don’t seem to see any good or want any good for Abia people, may be somehow connected to this. That’s a suspicion.

“We are not going to let this go away without identifying and bringing to book all those who are directly or remotely involved.”
