The Benue State Bureau for Education Quality Assurance, BEQA, in partnership with the Benue State Urban Development Board, BSUDB, has announced that it would begin the destruction of inadequate schools around the state.
The exercise would begin at the end of the 2023-2024 academic year throughout the state.
Dr Terna Francis, Director General of BEQA, announced this on Tuesday in Makurdi.
He stated that the action demonstrated BEQA’s commitment to restoring quality in the public education sector.
Dr. Francis condemned the rot in the sector, stating that Governor Hyacinth Alia-led government is dedicated to improving it and making it the envy of other states.
He stated that BEQA has already taken efforts to ensure sanity in the state’s education sector.
He said:
“Our office is tasked with the responsibility of closing schools that fail to meet establishment guidelines, education laws, as well as the national policy on education.”
He added that at the end of this term, BEQA will publish a list of all inferior schools in the state that the process would impact.
