Taraba Governor Agbu Kefas has directed security officers to investigate the murders of Chanchanji’s monarch, Alhaji Tanimu Kunbiya, and his son.
On Friday evening, the monarch and his son were assassinated in an ambush on the Chanchanji-Takum route by unidentified gunmen.
In a statement made available to journalists on Saturday, the governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Digital Communications, Emmanuel Bello, stated that the security forces, as directed by the governor, should immediately investigate the circumstances and pursue the perpetrators of the heinous crime.
Governor Kefas described the awful manner in which the late monarch and his son were assassinated on their way home from a burial gathering in Takum. They swore to offer all necessary assistance to the operatives in locating the culprits.
According to the governor:
“Everyone involved must be brought to justice as soon as possible.”
While urging Takum locals to remain calm, the governor is committed to using every resource available to bring the offenders to justice as soon as possible, his Special Adviser said.
He emphasised Governor Kefas’ determination to rid the state of all acts of lawlessness and brigandage, emphasising that the period of banditry and criminality has come to an end because to the robust security measures put in place by his government.
