Nollywood actress Empress Njamah has found herself at the center of controversy after her condolence visit to fellow actor Francis Duru, who recently lost his son, Ifeanyi.
The actor had announced the heartbreaking news, describing his son as a lion who fought bravely for his life. Accepting the loss as God’s will, Francis Duru shared his grief publicly, prompting an outpouring of support from friends and colleagues.
Empress Njamah, alongside prominent figures like Ned Nwoko, visited Duru to express their sympathies. She shared photos from the visit on her Instagram page, reflecting on the unimaginable pain of losing a grown son. “God knows best,” Njamah wrote, expressing her hope that Duru and his wife would find peace and strength in the love surrounding them. She also prayed for their son’s spirit to guide them through their darkest days, affirming her solidarity with the grieving family.
However, the somber visit took an unexpected turn on social media. Some of Njamah’s followers were quick to criticize her cheerful demeanor in the photos.
You were all smiles and giggling there. What exactly was amusing you, if I may ask?” one fan questioned, while another lamented how everything seems to turn into content in today’s world.
This isn’t the first time the loss of a child has brought public figures to social media. Earlier this month, comedian Aphrican Ace and his wife shared their sorrow after losing their newborn son. Similarly, skit maker Olagunju Solomon Olamide, known as Akika, mourned the loss of his son last year, highlighting how deeply these tragedies resonate within the entertainment community.
As the discussion continues, Empress Njamah’s visit serves as a reminder of the delicate balance public figures must maintain between sharing their personal lives and respecting the gravity of certain situations.
