Flooding in 10 LGAs of Jigawa State claimed the lives of 16 persons and displaced 3,834.
The floods also swept away 2,744 hectares of agricultural products.
Dr. Haruna Mairiga, Executive Secretary of the Jigawa State Emergency and Management Agency (SEMA), announced this while updating reporters on the state’s flooding condition.
Mairiga added that the floods displaced numerous individuals across the impacted local governments, destroying their homes and farmland.
He stated that some of the displaced people are seeking refuge at elementary schools, while others have fled to their relatives’ communities.
The impacted local governments by the floods include Buji, Kafin Hausa, Auyo, Hadejia, Birniwa, Gwaram, Malam Madori, Garki, Taura, Suletankarkar, Kaugama, and Dutse.
He stated that additional rain is anticipated over the season and that the administration is working to help the affected people.
