Augustine Eguavoen has announced that he is prepared to serve as the Super Eagles’ temporary head coach.

Augustine Eguavoen, the Nigeria Football Federation’s (NFF) technical director, has been appointed to lead the Super Eagles in the forthcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Benin Republic and Rwanda.

The NFF made the decision after German strategist Bruno Labbadia turned down its invitation to oversee the Super Eagles.

This will be the former international’s fourth stint as Super Eagles coach.

Augustine Eguavoen stated that he cannot reject down the invitation due to his passion for the country.

“I will do it for the love of the country and the game.

“Remember, football gave me name and fame and the country gave me opportunity so it’s difficult to say no at this point because of the circumstances we find ourselves,” Augustine Eguavoen told Mastersports.

The Super Eagles will face Benin Republic’s Cheetahs at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo next Saturday.

The three-time African champions will face Rwanda’s Amavubi on Tuesday, September 10 at Kigali’s newly rebuilt Amahoro Stadium.
