The United States has dispatched a medically prepared aeroplane to remove the controversial Binance Holdings Limited executive Tigran Gambaryan from Nigeria.
Tigran Gambaryan was evacuated as the Nigerian government dismissed previously filed money laundering allegations against him on Wednesday.
According to The New York Times, the US National Security Advisor, Jake Sullivan, stated that Gambaryan’s release was the outcome of “less confrontational” negotiations between Nigerian and US authorities.
He said:
“A plane equipped with medical equipment departed Nigeria’s capital, Abuja to bring him back to the US for needed medical attention.”
The unsettling Binance executive was detained during a business trip to Nigeria in February and has been incarcerated at Abuja’s Kuje Correctional Centre since April.
On Wednesday, October 23, 2024, Nigeria’s anti-corruption bureau withdrew the money laundering accusations against Gambaryan, the executive of Binance.
