Adebayo Adelabu, the Minister of Power, announced that electricity will be restored to the northern Nigeria area by this weekend following many days of darkness.
Adelabu stated this on Tuesday when briefing the press on attempts to restore electricity to the Northern area.
Adelabu said in a message released on the Transmission Company of Nigeria’s official X account on Tuesday that the delay in repairing the vandalised Shiroro-Kaduna line was caused by security risks.
Adelabu added that the government has pledged to investigate alternate methods to repair the vandalised Shiroro-Kaduna line.
According to him:
“We’ve had vandalism there before, but nobody noticed it because we fixed it within days. But this time was more severe, and the repairs have been delayed because of security threats.
“We’re working, and hopefully, the light will be restored before the end of the week. We’re exploring alternative solutions while we continue to work to fix the vandalised towers.”
This comes as Nigerians have demanded for Adelabu’s removal due to the continued darkness in northern Nigeria.
