President Bola Tinubu gave a brief evaluation of his administration’s performance over the previous 17 months on Monday, stating he was able to increase finances to lower the nation’s debt payment load from 97% to 65%.

Speaking against the backdrop of his fuel subsidy removal program, Tinubu stated that he is committed to eliminating the reign of excessive profiteering and smuggling of our collective resources.

He made these statements when swearing in seven newly recruited ministers to his cabinet to improve its operation.

Tinubu congratulated the new ministers on accepting to serve the country during this difficult period, saying they should be prepared for insults and criticism from Nigerians while remaining focused on improving the lives of over 200 million people.

Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda was sworn in as Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Muhammadu Maigari Dingyadi as Minister of Labour and Employment, and Bianca Odinaka Odumegwu-Ojukwu as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.

Jumoke Oduwole, Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment (Trade and Investment), Idi Mukhtar Maiha, Minister of Livestock Development, Yusuf Abdullahi Ata, Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, and Dr. Suwaiba Said Ahmad, Minister of State for Education, all took their oaths of office at the Presidential Villa Abuja.

While admitting the underlying economic constraints, Tinubu highlighted why his administration increased the national minimum wage.

He expressed optimism that with his administration’s assistance, the country will continue to prosper steadily.
