Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Mohammad Abubakar II, has urged Nigerians to stop from criticizing their leaders.

He said Nigerians should instead trust God to manage things in His own way.

The Sultan, while emphasizing the fleeting nature of all things, recommended continued prayer for both the country and its leaders.

He cautioned leaders that they would be held responsible to God on the Day of Resurrection, with no one to defend them in His presence.

The Sultan also advised religious leaders not to deceive their followers for personal gain, pointing out that most followers place a high value on their leadership.

He made this statement during a Regional Conference on Climate Change-Induced Conflicts in Northern Nigeria, which was hosted by the Kaduna State Bureau of Interfaith in cooperation with International Alert.

Sultan said:

“Only God can save any human being. Focus on worshiping Allah (God) and leave the rest to Him. Don’t follow those who might lead you astray. Our country faces many challenges, and we must turn to God in prayer. Let us intensify prayers in our mosques and churches

“Even though many feel times are particularly hard, we believe relief will come. Let’s increase our prayers for our leaders, trusting God to address them in His way.”

Sultan acknowledged that the North faced challenges like as climate change, poverty, and instability, but emphasized the region’s history of togetherness and resilience.
