Nigerian comedian Funny Bone has fired back at politician Reno Omokri over his controversial comment on the recent s3x scandal involving Baltasar Ebang Engonga, the Director General of Equatorial Guinea’s National Financial Investigation Agency (ANIF).
It was reported earlier that the scandal broke when authorities discovered over 300 videos on Baltasar’s computer, which showed him engaging in sexual activities with several women, including his brother’s wife, his cousin, and the sister of Equatorial Guinea’s President. This discovery came during a broader investigation into allegations of fraud.
In response to the scandal, Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi had publicly stated that he wouldn’t divorce his wife even if she cheated on him. Reno Omokri, known for his outspoken views, reacted to Obi’s statement by linking it to issues of governance, particularly corruption.
He questioned how a president who is indifferent about his wife’s fidelity could care about the theft of government funds by his officials. Omokri also took a swipe at Obi’s moral compass, insinuating that such an attitude would lead to corruption at the highest levels of government.
Omokri remarked,
A president who does not care if his wife has affairs outside will breed many Baltasar Ebang Engongas around him. It is a very indecent thing to have said and is indicative of disrespect for the sanctity of marriage.”
He further criticized Obi’s public statement, suggesting that it showed a lack of moral authority to lead the country.
Comedian Funny Bone quickly jumped into the conversation, criticizing Reno Omokri’s comments as beneath him. In a direct reply to Omokri on social media, Funny Bone admonished the politician, urging him to let some things slide. He wrote, “Reno!! This is beneath you. Too low for your standards. Too low. Learn to let some things slide. This one, no enter, bro.”
Funny Bone’s response sparked further conversation on social media, with many agreeing that Omokri’s comment seemed too harsh and unnecessary, while others felt he was justified in speaking out about the issue. In addition to Funny Bone, other public figures also weighed in on the scandal.
Actress Sarah Martins, commenting on the controversy, controversially described Baltasar as “every woman’s dream man,” praising his alleged sexual prowess. She speculated that many women willingly became involved with him, while others were reportedly offered to him as a form of settlement.
Meanwhile, rapper Eva Alordiah offered a different perspective, addressing the issue of sexual dissatisfaction in marriages. Through a post on her Twitter (now X) account, Eva highlighted how many women cheat due to unmet sexual needs and expressed frustration that many men fail to understand or address these issues.
