Bola Tinubu, President of Nigeria, has arrived in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, for the Group of 20’s (G20) 19th Heads of State and Government Summit.
The President arrived at the Brazilian Ministry of External Relations on Sunday at 11.03 p.m. local time (Monday at 3.03 a.m. Nigerian time) and was greeted by Breno Costa.
On the fringes of the conference, President Tinubu will also have bilateral discussions to further Nigeria’s socioeconomic reforms.
Brazil’s President, Mr Lula da Silva, will host the 2024 G20 summit after holding the group’s rotational chair since December 21, 2023.
The summit, themed “Building a Just World and a Sustainable Planet,” will address three pillars of sustainable development: economic, social, and environmental, as well as global governance reform.
The conference will also discuss the rise in global temperatures and the foundations of the digital economy, among other topics.
The Brazilian presidency will also prioritize the Israel-Hamas conflict and the developing bloc rivalry between the United States and China.
The summit is when heads of state and government approve agreements reached throughout the year and outline strategies for dealing with global challenges.
