Nollywood star Chioma Akpotha and several others have expressed frustration over Netflix’s handling of Femi Adebayo’s upcoming film, Seven Doors.
The Jagun Jagun producer had been teasing fans with engaging snippets on his social media, building anticipation for the blockbuster’s release. However, Netflix shocked followers by dropping the full trailer on their official Instagram account before Femi Adebayo had completed his promotional sequence.
This unexpected move sparked outrage, with fans and industry colleagues criticizing Netflix for their lack of coordination and strategic marketing. Chioma Akpotha voiced her disappointment on Instagram, tagging @naijaonnetflix and expressing her disbelief.
Guys, like WTH! Do you not know what timing is? 😡 @femiadebayosalami had set the ball rolling by dropping teasers! People were already anticipating, only for it to be messed up by the full trailer release here… JUST LIKE THAT?!” she exclaimed.
Other fans echoed her sentiments, with comments like:
- kollatunez: “Netflix didn’t even chill for Femi to open the fifth door on his page.”
- nollywoodcitadel: “Wetin happen… Femi Adebayo never finish opening the 7 doors (teasers) on his Instagram page, but Netflix don upload full trailer.”
- hyrishtheebigdeal: “At least una for align with the producer’s promotion tactics na.”
This controversy comes after Femi Adebayo’s previous Netflix film, Jagun Jagun, received widespread acclaim and positive reviews from both critics and fans. The actor had been overwhelmed by the love and reception, reminding viewers to avoid spoilers to ensure a great viewing experience for everyone.
