Nollywood actress Moyo Lawal has shared insights into her fashion choices and why she often prefers to stay indoors.
The movie star posted a video on her Instagram page from the premiere of the Thinline movie, where she was seen twerking, and humorously explained that short clothes make it easier for her to let loose at events.
“This is why I never wear short things out or leave my house,” Moyo wrote. “Then you give me a dress code like ***Sincityglam (Risqué and racy). Come on now! P.S. I did my makeup myself; how did I do?”
The actress gave credit to her stylist, @gwillsdesigns, for creating her ensemble, joking about the designer being tired of her creative demands.
Moyo’s candid post comes after a turbulent period in her personal life. Last year, the actress faced heavy criticism online after an intimate tape featuring her and her ex-fiancé leaked. In response, she issued a public statement clarifying that the man in the video was her former partner, and the recording was made with her consent as they were planning to marry.
She described the incident as a breach of her trust and privacy, threatening legal action against those responsible for the leak. Despite the backlash, Moyo revealed that the tape was one of only two intimate moments she had in 2022, emphasizing the context of her decision to record it.
The leak prompted mixed reactions from her colleagues and the public. While some, like Mary Njoku, defended her against victim-blaming, others, including Uche Maduagwu, called for disciplinary actions from the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN).
Mary Njoku, in particular, offered encouragement during Moyo’s birthday this year, describing her as a calm individual who avoids trouble. She noted that 2023 was one of Moyo’s most challenging years, yet the actress managed to remain resilient in the face of harsh public scrutiny.
The saga also caught the attention of investigative journalist Kemi Olunloyo, who made allegations about the tape, claiming it was staged and accusing Moyo of misleading the public. Despite these claims, Moyo has continued to focus on her career and personal growth.
