Troops of Operation Fansan Yanma, in collaboration with the Zamfara State Community Watch, have neutralized two bandits during a targeted operation in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The operation, conducted on January 14, 2025, aimed to disrupt criminal hideouts in the Sungawa, Yalwa, and Rakyabu areas.
Security expert and analyst Zagazola Makama confirmed the development, describing the operation as a significant step toward restoring security in the region.
“These bandits were a constant source of fear and suffering for residents. They frequently extorted money and valuables from locals and, at times, committed senseless killings to instil terror,” Makama said.
The mission forms part of a broader campaign to combat banditry and other criminal activities plaguing Zamfara State.
The collaborative efforts between security forces and the Zamfara State Community Watch highlight the increasing role of local vigilance groups in enhancing regional security.
The success of the operation is expected to bring relief to communities in Tsafe, a region long troubled by banditry. Authorities have emphasized their commitment to sustaining the momentum in the fight against organized crime in the state.
Zamfara has been a hotspot for insecurity, with bandit groups often targeting rural communities. However, recent offensives such as this one underscore the determination of security forces to dismantle criminal networks and restore peace.
